Charm of Holland

The Netherlands, sometimes also known as Holland is located near mostly in Northwestern Europe. It borders Germany on the east and Belgium on the South. It is a densely populated country with over 17 million people living in an area of just 41,543 km square. The word Netherland is an English adaptation of the original Dutch word, Nederland which literally translates to ‘lower land.’ It is quite an apt name because it is a very low-lying country, most of it being flat, or even below sea level. Tourism in the Netherlands mainly flourishes because of its cultural diversity.

Tradition and innovation intertwine here: artistic masterpieces, centuries-old windmills, tulip fields and romantic candlelit cafés coexist with visionary architecture, cutting-edge design and phenomenal nightlife. Netherland, a small country has some beautiful gems tucked away in its low-lying lands. Remember the wallpapers with millions of Tulips blooming in a field? There is a very good chance that it is from the Netherlands.

Apart from these beautiful blooms, Netherland is also honored as the home of the much-loved Gouda cheese. The very popular beer, Heineken is also a Dutch brand. The capital of Netherland, Amsterdam is known far and wide for its tolerance towards soft drugs like Marijuana. Many people, especially youngsters throng here to enjoy the liberal mindset of the city. The excellent and vibrant nightlife is also the main reason for people to visit the Netherlands.
