Visit Rose Garden

The Rose Garden was set up to commemorate the 100th Flower Festival of the Botanical Garden in 1995. Right now, it is maintained and administered by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department. Scattered over an area of 4 hectares, Rose Garden has some 2,500 varieties of roses, which is known to be the most extensive collection in India.

Visit Wenlock Downs

Limitless extend of emerald greenery, decorated with eucalyptus and shola trees, these are what makes up the Wenlock Downs. As per the lore, the place has been named after Sir Arthur Lawley’s sibling, Beilby Lawley, the third Baron Wenlock. Wenlock Downs has also been the shooting point for films like Sixth Mile and Ninth Mile.

Ride In Nilgiri Toy Train

First commenced in 1899, the Nilgiri Rail Line initially went from Mettupalayam to Coonoor and eventually expanded to Udhagamandalam, the old name of Ootacamund, in 1908. This toy train takes passengers from a height of 1,069 ft to 7,228 ft. This rail network is one of the steepest rail networks in Asia. The entire route is scenic and feels like a ride through a fairy kingdom.

Visit Deer Park

On the edge of the Ooty lake, spread across an area f 22 acre and in a womb of emerald greenery, lies India’s highest altitude animal park. The Deer Park was opened to the public in 1986 and is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department. This park provides an excellent opportunity to study deer in their natural habitat. Apart from deer, this park also has some scarce varieties of flora.

Visit Government Tribal Museum

Situated within the Tribal Research Centre in Ootacamund is a government-funded and protected museum. Government Tribal Museum is located on the Ooty-Mysore road and was constructed in 1989. The exhibits were constitute to project the history, heritage, and culture of 18 tribes that made Ootacamund their home throughout history, mainly the Toda tribe.
